3026-100 Staphylococcus aureus RT-PCR Kit
Real-time PCR Kit for Staphylococcus aureus has S. aureus can cause a variety of different infections, from
been developed for in vitro quantification of S. aureus mild skin infections such as impetigo to invasive diseases
genomes. The kit has been designed to have the broad and toxic-medi ated diseases. Production of exo toxins
estpossible detection profile while remaining specific known as pyrogenic toxin superantigens in some strains
to the S. aureus genome. The primer sequences in this of S. aureus can cause toxic shock syn drome. Realtime
kit have 100% homology with a wide range of s. aureus PCR is the fastest and most reliable method of per forming
sequences as a result of extensive bioinformatics analysis. an accurate s. aureus de tection.
The chromosomal gene femA is used to detect S. aureus.
S. aureus is a Gram-positive bacterium from the Staphy-
lococcaceae family. The genome of this species is about
2.8 Mb in length. Virulence factors for S. aureus are
encoded by phages, pathogenicity islands, staphylo-
coccal cassette chro mosome, and plasmids that contain
genes for antibiotic resistance, such as those found in
Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus (MRSA). S. aureus can be
found on the skin and mucous membranes of healthy
individuals, but erosion of these barriers allows bac-
teria to enter the wound, colonize and cause infection.
Since this bacterium lives on the skin, it can easily be
transmitted between indi viduals and is usually seen in
hospi tal-acquired infections.
